Florence

Florence... We spent 3 nights in Florence and saw tons of art! We went to the Uffizi Gallery, which is supposedly one of the best art museums, and we also went to the Academy Gallery, where we saw Michelangelo's David. That was pretty impressive... the statue was huge. Florence was also full of little shops lining the streets... the only sad thing was our "free" day (no museums scheduled) was a Sunday, and most of the shops were closed!

The Duomo, The Cathedral of S. Maria del Fiore

Palazzo Vecchio
At this palace we took a secret passageways tour that was really pretty neat. Michelangelo's David (now just a copy of the real statue) sits in front of this palace.

This is inside Palazzo Vecchio in the Hall of 500. It is hard to tell in this picture, but the paintings on the walls were enormous, and there are also paintings on the ceilings that are incredible.

These are two of the many statues that sit outside the palace. The statue in the background is the David, and in the foreground is the statue of this man who cut off Medusa's head.

Not really sure what this building was exactly, but we walked by and thought it would be a good picture.

There was an old fort on top of this hill right across the river, so we walked up to it, but it was closed. We still got an amazing view of Florence though. This is walking down one part of the hill...

View from the hill...

Ponte Vecchio (the bridge)
This bridge is similar to the one in Venice, except it is lined with only jewelry stores.

This is us on Ponte Vecchio.

And back at night...
