San Gimignano is in the Tuscany region of Italy. It's an old medival looking town built up on the very top of the hill. There is one main road through the town and at the middle it reaches a point where the big church is. We walked up and down hills and stairs alot in San Gimignano. This place was known for all of it's towers. There used to be around 70, which is why it was referred to as the Manhattan of Italy. Now there are only about 14 of those towers left.
San Gimignano is also the home of the best gelato we had all trip! There was a little place in the main piazza (Piazza della Cisterna) that had a sign out front claiming to be a team member of the 2006-07 world champion gelato makers... and it was true! They had a black chocolate (known to us a dark chocolate) that was SOO good!

An olive tree...
Adam & Kyle at another fort!
There were poppies all over Italy, but especially in San Gimignano. They were so pretty, and they reminded me of being a little girl and seeing poppies with my granny.
Roman Baths

The steps back up to the town from the Roman Baths.

We went up to the top of the main tower in the center of the town, and these are some of the pictures from the top (which was a scary climb).

Not only did we find amazing gelato in San Gimignano, but we also had some really great pizza at a place called Rizza's Pizza. We each got a slice and sat on the steps of the church and ate it. It was delicious. Kristen and Adam even got another piece!

We got to eat the most amazing pasta our whole time in Italy. We were always so hungry though, I could never remember to take pictures of our food. I did remember one night in San Gimignano. It wasn't the best meal we had, but it was pretty good. These are the huge ravioli with saffron sauce that Kristen and I both got.
