Today was wedding day!!! But not until this evening...
So, we started the day with an attempt at the hotel breakfast... and eventually just went for another empanada. Seriously, I don't know what I'm going to do without those every morning.
KG and I then headed to Simi where they did actual tours of their wine-making process...
Check out KG playing teacher's pet... he was intrigued by the wine-making process in relation to the beer-making process.
All good tours end in a wine tasting...
After Simi, we headed to Santa Rosa, which was a little bit of a drive, but totally worth it for KG. Santa Rosa is the home to a brewery that basically invented a style of beer. They sell it at the brewery, and they do not sell it in Texas. This was a huge part of KG's trip. So off we went...
I have to say, we had a pretty great time. The place was packed, but we got a seat at the bar. KG made friends with some wandering woman who:
1. Wasn't sure she had the money to pay for a $6 beer she ordered.
and
2. Felt inclined to tell KG that she thought women in Texas were treated as property! Whoa.
Back to the actual brewery... I was pretty impressed by the tasting tray... and KG only did half. I also got to try most of them, and this was my first try at sour beers. I'm a fan!
Beer menus... my fave was "Little White Lie," which they did not sell by the bottle, so I did not bring any home...
Besides the great beer, the food was AMAZING!!!
KG's pizza...
My calzone... you can't even begin to imagine the oozing ricotta!
I would just like to go on record and point out that I came home with THREE bottles of wine. Look how many beers (and those aren't your regular 12 ounce bottles)...
We also got a growler since Kyle has started a little mini collection over the past year, but we didn't get it filled for travel purposes.
And there he is... outside the legend.
And you better believe I took the opportunity to drive the convertible back to our hotel!
We got back just in time to get cleaned up and ready for the wedding!!
Check out the hotness that is my date!!!
We did stop at one more little tasting room on the square that was known for Pinot Noir... Roadhouse or something. I did get a bottle, but overall, not that impressed.
And off to the wedding...
It was a beautiful wedding with an amazingly beautiful bride. Of course, I expected no less.
The reception was lovely... good food, perfect weather, great wine, fabulous company.
My sweet friend...
Post-wedding at the bar... with our dear Aggie friends, the newlyweds.
It was a rough morning and trip back to San Fran to catch our flight, but we made it, and were delayed several times, but managed to get back to Texas and to Gville around 11pm.
I had an amazing trip! The wedding was perfect, and I'm so glad we were able to be there. And I'm glad those two are official!!!!!
