I thought it may be time for another food update (or reminder for me one day).
Today I spent the morning in the kitchen making new food for the girls. I had originally thought I was going to make their food, but I fell into the convenience trap of Gerber. But now, I'm getting bored of green beans, bananas and squash and the girls have GOT to be ready for something new.
So, today I made:
5 bags of carrots (4oz each),
7 bags of asparagus (4oz each),
5 bags of okra (4oz each),
4 bags of zucchini (4oz each),
and replenished my supply of avocado with 10 bags.
I know the girls like carrots and avocado, the rest are going to be new foods.
Other updates...
We still have oatmeal for breakfast with a fruit (peaches, apples, pears, bananas and a new recent fave... bananas and mixed berries). Today we had yogurt with our oatmeal, and it went over fairly well (EK of course made her "this-is-new-and-I-need-to-be-sure-you-know-I-may-not-like-it" face).
We are also adding in a lunch time meal... which was a new addition today. And we had a small portion of turkey with mixed veggies by gerber. I haven't had much luck with straight turkey (especially with EK), and this went over a little better.
Dinner is usually 2 veggies and a fruit. The girls love squash and sweet potatoes (which I have 3 bags left in the freezer, so that will be my next prep work). Green beans are in. Green peas are OUT... KM doesn't really like them. EK will eat them. But they make ME nauseous feeding them... I think the smell. And I have NEVER liked green peas, so I don't care, we aren't eating them anymore.
And puffs. We've started working on those... it was tough at first because they weren't excited about the hard puff. Now they are champs. And we found out how great puffs can be at keeping them occupied when we went out to lunch yesterday! :) We use the Target brand... sweet potato flavor and blueberry flavor are a hit. Peach-mango to come.
We have been slow with eating. KG and I still think the girls seem to be about a month behind on all things eating-wise, so we are taking it slow. I want to make sure they get enough formula still and they don't eat just a ton of food or formula. I'm also not pushing the meat. I want to start with a great foundation of veggies!
And that's where we are for now.
