Family Ski Trip... there...

So it was time for our sometimes annual trip to Aspen with KG's family...

KG & I had gone back and forth and over and over our options for driving with the girls (it is 21 hours in a car...) to try and minimize the crying and maximize our sanity. We finally decided to drive to Dallas and stay the night and then leave with his brother and sis-in-law and his parents.

So, Thursday we loaded up and packed while the girls were at daycare. On the way to daycare our car check engine light came on with the stablitrack, so KG took the car to the shop right after we dropped the girls. We got everything ready in the meantime, and at 3pm finally just went back to the shop to see what the deal was. Something needed to be replaced, covered by warranty and just finished!!! WOO HOO! So, I went and picked up the girls and we loaded the car. And off we went to Dallas.

The next day Crystal had to work, so the girls and I hung out with KG and Uncle Shane. We went to lunch in McKinney at a great burger place and the girls did so good. That afternoon, we just hung out around the house until Aunt Crystal got off work and Grandmother and Grandaddy got there so we could leave!

We ended up leaving around 5pm. We drove to Norman (hissssss) and stopped for dinner at Taco Cabana, changed the girls into PJs, feed bedtime bottles and put them back in the carseats for "bed". They did SO good... and sleep until about 6am like they normally do... didn't even wake up when we made stops for gas. (I drove from McKinney until Kansas, which was about 5pm until 1am.)

We stopped for breakfast at a Denny's when the girls woke up, fed and took a break from the car. Once we hit Vail around noonish, the girls were getting a bit tired of their seats... but we made it!

As soon as we got in the house, we took off jammies and rolled around on the bed and stretched out... the girls were as happy as could be!!!

A few pics from the trip there...

Shane & Crystal have a big bean bag called a lovesac and EK got to sit in it...

KM and a little quality time with Uncle Shane

Cute girls laying on the bed... I love when they hold hands when they are next to each other, which happens almost every time they are next to each other. {EK & KM}

Uncle Shane & KG played a little Kinect on the Xbox and EK joined the game on Uncle Shane's team...

Since we were going to pack the girls up in the car for many hours, we laid outside for a while waiting on Aunt Crystal, Grandmother and Grandaddy and then watched everyone pack up the trailer.

Uncle Shane couldn't quite make the trip in the very back... he and I were both pretty carsick prone this trip, so he climbed over and managed not to hit a single niece in the face. This picture is much better if you call him Uncle Crazy... which a friend of theirs does, but I'm thinking it could stick in our fam if he's not careful!!

So, we finally made it. And all with sanity in place. WOO HOO!!!

Your babies are getting so big! Well, except in that giant bean bag chair :)

What did you think of Taco Cabana in Norman? We went there once and it was major fail- their tortillas were awful. We are sticking to T.C. in Texas only!
