Here we are. 24 weeks, 2 days.
I had a doctor's appointment today. No pictures with this one.
I only have random thoughts after today, so I'm doing a list.
1. Everyone who keeps saying I don't look pregnant or at least no way I'm having twins... As of today, I'm measuring 34 weeks. Let me remind you, I'm only 24 weeks. Take that. I am pregnant. With twins.
2. In two weeks (make that 2+ weeks since KG is running off to AK in 2 weeks), I have to go to a specialist in Austin for a high level ultrasound. No reason in particular except my doctor would like to have someone else take a look and make sure the babies are on course. Peace of mind kind of trip. I'm good with that.
3. Last week I realized it is starting to get really hard to breathe (see #1). Since I'm measuring all the way up into my rib cage, this now makes sense.
4. Water. Water. More water.
5. Doctor said 30 weeks is when some pregnant women start feeling "miserable." Since I'm measuring 34... well, you do the math. I feel like I have a long way to go at "miserable."
6. The doc was a little more serious at this appointment. The babies are just on the edge of viability (a word you never really want to hear when talking about your babies), and I think she wanted to be sure I realized that I need to be taking it easy.
7. The glucose test... tastes like really thick, super sweet kool-aid.*
8. I failed the glucose test. Go back on Wednesday at 8:15 IN THE MORNING for the 3 hour test. Fun.
9. Blood pressure... good. Weight gain... good. (According to the doctor.)
10. She threatened to pull me out of work... and said she probably would around 32-34 weeks. She just doesn't think it is worth it for me to keep working past that. And football games are an absolute NO.
11. My doctor was able to get both babies heartbeats and mine at the same time... sounded like a gobbled mess, but still pretty cool. And totally obvious which heartbeat was mine and which ones belonged to the girls. She said she'd never really been able to do that with twins, but apparently mine are positioned with their hearts close together.
12. I was also warned that I will probably start having some contractions... some I may not even feel, but being as big as I am, the doctor thinks it is pretty much inevitable.
So, overall I'm feeling about like this:
Doctor Appointment 1, Shanna 0.
*UPDATE: I passed the 3 hour test, no problem... except feeling pretty sick from the pure sugar with nothing to eat or drink.
