Rome

Rome was the last stop on our tour of Italy. We spent three nights there, and Kyle and I flew home from Rome. We didn't waste any time while we were there, and we even got caught up in an anti-war/Bush rally/stampede!

Coliseum

These next pictures are in Palatine Hill, an area of more Roman ruins.

Trajan's Column
Adam, Kristen and I all saw this tour as we walked through a plaza on our way to find some lunch. At lunch, Kyle mentioned how he wanted to see this tower. The rest of us told him we had just walked by it... somehow he had missed it, but after lunch he made us walk all the way back so he could look at it. It wasn't that bad... Kristen and I found a great place to sit and rest in the shade! And Kyle got to see the column.

Another picture of Palatine Hill...

A view from the top of Rome
Pantheon
I didn't take any pictures of the outside, but Kristen did. Maybe I'll post some of those later.

Castel S. Angelo

The bridge in front of the castle

Out a window of the castle

This church was really close to our hotels and the main train station, so we decided to go inside. Once we went in, we discovered that Michelangelo designed the front of the church (which is worn a bit, but you can still see some of it).
This was a huge organ inside this church. You can barely see at the bottom where there is a seat for the person to play.

Vatican City
This picture was actually taken from the top of the Castle we went in.

Basilica of Saint Peter
We took a tour of Vatican City and saw the famous Sistine Chapel (no pictures allowed inside).

These guys are guards of the Pope.
They are very selective... you have to be a certain height and from Switzerland, etc...

Spanish Steps at night
Trevi Fountain
We did throw in coins, but Kristen has those pictures, too.

More pictures of fabulous pasta from Osteria de Gallo!

It is finished.

LOVE THE PICTURES! Thanks so much for sharing. Everything looks so beautiful, and so crowded!

(BTW- The Papal Guard is the Swiss Guard- so they have to be from Switerzland, not Sweden :) )
