What an awesome weekend!!!!
I have always wanted to do a "college football tour" where KG and I travel around the nation to different stadiums just for the game day experience. With my Aggies moving to the SEC, it seemed like a perfect time to get it started!
We chose the Mississippi State game this year... a couple of our great friends went to college there, so we made a big tailgate out of it! I think we will probably keep this tradition going as long as we can.
So, we headed off on a Friday morning with our travel buddies, JJ & Paul. KG insisted on cajun food on our way through Louisiana, so we stopped in Ruston for lunch!

Yummy Red Beans & Sausage!
Coming into Jackson, Mississippi... traffic... so close, but so far.
We got into Starkville that evening and dropped off our stuff for the tailgate. Then we went and checked into our awesome hotel room (and by awesome, I mean borderline gross). It was seriously the only hotel we could get when we were trying to find one, so we took it. And it worked, but it was definitely nice to have a few drinks before bed and be able to forget where you were sleeping...
This little form was waiting in the room for us when we checked in... I thought that was amusing.
Since we were starving, we headed to this place (got to love the Game of Thrones reference) and had a great dinner!
After dinner we went back over to where Blake and Drew were staying to hang out for awhile.
We were actually so close to everything that we walked... so these next two are on our walk home.
And then it was game day!!!!
It was an early game, which meant for a super early tailgate as well. But a mimosa never hurt anyone, so off we went.
Of course my BFF came through and had a special surprise for Blake, me and him (he would have included KG, but KG is such a beer snob these days). He got us each a little bottle of our fave Rosa Regale!!!
Apparently Blake has never opened one on his own before... ;)
And a little cheers to our fun weekend!!! (Make sure you check our our official tailgate banner... it will be up again next fall in CS.)
KG, being the fake Aggie that he is, insisted on wearing one of his maroon polos that didn't have an A&M logo... so he could play both sides. As illustrated with the cowbell in our pic...
Drew & Blake gave us a tour of their campus, and I'll admit, there were some really pretty buildings. Loved it.
We even took our pics with the bulldog, who I'm pretty sure has a name...
And then it was game time.
I'm just going to tell you that NONE of us expected what happened. JJ, Paul and I have been beaten pretty hard by our Aggies and we get a little emotionally involved. But this day was different. Seriously may have been one of the best games I've been to! Mississippi State was pushing this whole snow bowl thing and came out in all white. Until game day, no one knew that A&M was wearing all black! It was cool. And it got all the Aggies pumped up.
And then we just flat out dominated the game. Completely. It was awesome.
I always love being an Aggie, but it was really fun this day!!!
Check out those stands emptying!
Here we are... VICTORY!!!
{KG, SS, JJ & Paul}
Just want to throw in this... we were all sitting right next to each other. And actually, JJ & Paul were standing at the seats right behind me and KG. But somehow Paul got on TV TWICE...
And KG got on once... apparently JJ & I weren't there. Go figure.
Post-game we walked around tailgates trying to see if anyone had the tu game, and guess what? No one did. Ha.
But KG did find this and make me take his pic... now he's being all Aggie.
That evening we headed out and met Drew & Blake for dinner at a pretty incredible Italian place. Delish. And I enjoyed the company.
And that wraps up our trip. Fantastic time with fantastic friends!!!
We got up on Sunday morning, loaded up, grabbed some yummo chicken biscuits and headed back to Texas. On the way home we, with JJ & Paul, decided our road trip next year will be LSU. And I'm sure you can imagine the kool-aid drinking talk that was happening the whole drive home...
