Memphis...

We had an unexpected trip to Memphis come up. My sweet friend Drew lost his father after a long battle with cancer. Nothing was keeping us from being there with Drew. We dropped our girls off in White Oak with Grandmother & Granddaddy and hit the road...

KG & I pulled an all night drive while the Hawkins' slept in the backseat. We had a bit of an eventful night with my tire kept going flat, and we finally stopped about 4:30am to fix it...

My handy C-USA knife I carry in the car...

KG's tools...

And here is the whopper of a nail KG pulled out of my tire!! I'm not sure the picture does it justice, but it was huge.

This man saved the day! He drove, fixed tires... he is my hero.

We got to Memphis early on Sunday morning. We went straight to Drew's house, napped and showered. The service was at 2pm, and we went to Drew's mom's afterwards. We all took nap #2 after that, and then we went out on the town with Drew for a little Memphis and a lot of friend time.

Some of our adventures...

I was way excited to see this... since Tami and I had just seen Million Dollar Quartet while in NYC.

It seems a bit inappropriate to say we had a good time, but spending time with Drew and our sweet friends was exactly what we all needed. I was glad that we could all be there with Drew, and I loved hearing all the stories about his dad. The best thing... so many stories of Drew's dad, and so many made me think "that sounds like Drew." Sweet father, sweet son.
