Somehow I convinced KG to let me go on a girls trip with my BFF to NYC. Apparently he loves me. :)
So, along came the end of April, and Tami and I headed to New York. I had a great time. And never enough time in NYC. There is just too much. I think we stayed right in the middle, and were busy the whole time. We didn't do many touristy things... really we shopped and ate and slept in and stayed up late. And it was wonderful!
Leaving CS early morning...
In the meantime, KG was home with the girls and Grandmother came down to stay with them. I think they all had a great time... and I heard there was a lot of reading happening while I was gone.

So, we arrived at our hotel and our room wasn't quite ready, but we were starving. So we dropped our luggage and headed out for some lunch.

Lunch... delicious lunch. And maybe the best pasta I ate the whole time.
So, KG and I got Tami & Andrew hooked on Game of Thrones this season. We actually rewatched the first season together, and then watched the 2nd together. When we were planning this trip, I saw on Twitter that the HBO shop in NYC was going to have things from the series set-up while we were there, so of course, we had to go and rub it in!

The gratuitous Times Square picture...
I also realized I was in town during the NFL Draft! That was so exciting to me... I always thought it would be fun to go and didn't realize until we were there it was happening that same weekend. Not the best sign, but the only one I could find on ground level.
Also a really exciting part of the trip... we got to spend some time with Kim & Jim! On Wednesday night, Kim met us at our hotel and took us to a great little tapas place with really great mojitos. She and Jim were headed to a show, and Tami and I spent some time at the W bar before meeting back up with them at this little pub. I loved the fire going because it was still a little chilly outside for this Texas girl!
While I was sleeping in LATE, these girls were up and on breakfast #2 (aka Grandmother's breakfast).
On Thursday we did a lot of shopping. And we passed this place around lunch, and had to go in. It was pretty good, and we were both happy to sit and relax, too.
I had to send KG the beer menu...
Mac n cheese. Yum.
Of all the times that I've been in NYC, I've never been to the Macy's. So we went. That place it like a time warp... it is huge and there are so many things to see. And all of a sudden, you've been inside for hours!
Thursday night out...

We went to see Jim in Million Dollar Quartet, and it was AMAZING. I loved every second of it. And I was a little unsure going in if it was something I would like, but it was so great. We were right up front which made it really fun, too. After the show Jim took us up on stage and we got to look around, but of course, why would we take any pictures of that???
Afterwards Jim hung out and let us ask a million questions about Broadway and the show and the commercial he was auditioning for and found out that he got (The Crunchy Nut)! He was such a great sport, and it was fun to hear about something that is so far from my everyday life!
This is what happens when there isn't anyone else to take a pic... single pics.
This is from our hotel... on our floor before you get on the elevator, these words are in the wall of mirrors. And they are lit up so you know what the weather is like... notice... rain and cold. Awesome.
We stayed out pretty late that night, and ended up making a really late night/early morning McDonald's run. After we got back to our hotel and changed into lounge clothes. Perfect for Times Square.
And we absolutely did go in the cold in our tanks.
And then some guy offered to take our picture...
And then this random group of guys decided to photo bomb...
Somehow we got voucher's for free breakfast at our hotel every morning, and it was delicious. The watermelon was amazing.
We spent Friday wandering and ended up in Little Italy...
We had lunch... prosecco was nice, my pasta was not. Oh well.
And then Chinatown...
And then we ended up in this little park right near the Flatiron Building (which may be my fave in NYC). I can't resist taking pictures of flowers...
I had heard of the Shake Shack... apparently it is all that...
Yes, we went to 7-11 for drinks. ha.
And there may have been a stop at DSW (where I couldn't find a single pair of shoes).
And then we went to this pizza place in Penn Station that I pulled up on foursquare. Amazing. Tami got boring pepperoni, but I got chicken and ricotta and it was soooo good.
They also served their beers in 32 oz cups with a lid and straw. Perfect.
Our last night in NYC... we weren't too exciting because I think we had worn ourselves out by then.
It was a great girls trip away... and I can't wait for the next one!!!!!!!!!
