Friend Ski Trip 2012

Finally time for our friend ski trip! This is trip #3, and was so relaxing! Our friends Tami & Andrew, Drew and Blake all came up for the week to ski and eat with us.

On Friday (Jan 20th) evening we left the girls with Grandmother and headed to CO with Tami & Andrew. We stopped for dinner at good ole Taco Cabana in Ennis, which for whatever reason is amazing on the drive to Aspen. We drove all night and got to Denver around 10am, stopped at Target and had breakfast at Ihop. We finally arrived in Snowmass at about 3pm on the 21st and it was snowing... which was awesome because they just had not been getting snow like they normally do. Well, it continued to snow thru the night, so much so that both Drew & Blake's flights in were canceled! That wasn't fun, but we got a lot of great snow!!!

On Sunday, we went and picked Blake up at the airport (he managed to get on an early morning flight and was in Aspen by 1030am). After that we headed into Aspen, shopped and had lunch at my all time favorite place... Brunelleschi's. We finally headed back to Snowmass and got our skis. Drew finally arrived by shuttle from Denver around 4 that afternoon. We finally had all made it, had an awesome dinner (chicken cordon bleu & risotto) and were so ready for skiing the next day!

just a beautiful day
Monday was a great ski day... and so much powder! Blake took some lessons and the rest of us skied together and went to the house for a leisurely lunch. We hit the hot tub right after skiing, had a yummy Mexican food meal for dinner (along with my favorite... beergaritas), and had a group viewing of The Bachelor! Really couldn't have asked for a better day!

WHOA. Tuesday threw some new ski conditions our way. It was cloudy and dark and very windy. We skied through lunch, and then Tami & Blake & I came in early afternoon and went straight to the hot tub. The other boys stayed out a little longer, but not much! It was just so cold!

Wednesday was an awesome ski day, weather-wise. It was sunny, and actually so hot that we stopped and got a locker at Cafe Suzanne to shed some layers! We were still getting snow all week thou. We all skied together and had lunch at Cafe Suzanne (maybe the best hot dog ever). We came in and relaxed, had dinner and waited until it was dark for the hot tub!

Wednesday was also the hardest day for me... I missed the girls a lot. Maybe because I got a few picture updates from my SIL, Kristen, when the girls went to her house to play.

Thursday was already our last day! I stayed in though, and Tami skied a half day. When she got in, we went to the village and hung out, shopped and met up with the boys when they came in. We all dropped off our ski stuff. Then back to the house... we even played Golf (cards) for a long time!

On Friday, everyone headed out. KG & I went exploring at had some terrible Mexican food in El Jebel. We also made a stop by the Aspen Brewing Company brew house. We spent some quality time lounging at the house, and finally drug ourselves out for dinner at Mountain Dragon. We got in bed at 730pm. Totally enjoyed our last night without babies.

Friday morning snow...

On Saturday, we finished getting the house ready for everyone to arrive. Finally after lunch, we headed out to the village for a snack and a drink before the babies made it in.

And that was the end of baby-free ski week. It was a blast!!! And made possible by the greatest Grandmother & Granddaddy!
