Sleep Training

We did it. We got a book, learned alot, and now we have sleeping babies. But I wanted to write down the trials and tribulations of "sleep training."

Night #1, December 30, 2010 - cried for 15 minutes... EK more than KM, which was a complete surprise. We think EK was just extra tired tonight.

December 31, 2010 - New Year's Eve

January 1, 2011 - Down at 7:15pm. Cried for about an hour. We eventually had to get KM up and feed her again. EK, on the other hand, went for 9 hours. KM started out asleep, but EK woke her up.

January 2, 2011 - Down at 7:33pm. Both girls were fed prior to putting them down. At 7:36pm the crying started. Mainly EK at first, but KM joined in... still EK carried the show. Stopped crying at 8:09 to start again at 8:19

January 3, 2011 - I didn't record this day, and I can't remember now!

January 4, 2011 - Girls went down with only a little crying... from 730 to 4am and then back to sleep until 9am. YAY

January 5, 2011 - KG had to help Josh move some furniture for his gf Kasey, so I was on my own. The girls woke up from their nap around 6pm, so I started feeding on my own. KM never really woke up and she cried every time I took the bottle away to burp her. EK was smiley-magoo the whole time. I got KM into bed first, and she cried loud the whole time I changed, dressed and finished feeding EK. Then when I put EK down, she screamed for about 15 minutes. And all was quiet.

January 6, 2011 - No crying at all. Down at 7pm and slept until 5am!!!!

January 7, 2011 - Crying... mostly from EK with a few random cries from KM. For about 20 minutes. While Josh and Kasey were here to watch the Aggies in the Cotton Bowl. Apparently the girls wanted to watch also.

January 8, 2011 - No crying!!! In beds by 6:56pm.

And we've had so much success... we've had a few random night wakings from KM, but nothing terrible. A paci or a burp usually gets that girl back to sleep. And both girls wake up smiley and happy and chatty in the mornings. It's been awesome. KG and I have some evening time to unwind, or eat dinner, or go to bed early. I love it. We are all happier. The girls average from 7pm to 5-6am, and that means an uninterrupted night of sleep! I really think EK would sleep another hour, but she gets woken up by default. KM is READY for breakfast in the morning. And now we are to the point that we don't get up before 5am. YAY!!!

The girls did have a few off nights this past week. EK was running a little fever. KM just decides she is ready to get up. But we've got EK on some antibiotics and things seem to be settling back down.

I'm not gonna lie... 5am wake-up is tough, but I'll take it!!! For now.

And, yes, I took pictures of the girls sleeping with my phone of the monitor...
