On Monday (Oct. 18) we took the girls to their first pediatrician appointment. It didn't go so well. Both girls had lost too much weight, were very jaundice and dehydrated. We tried to feed them in the doctors office, and neither of them could finish 2 ounces. Our doctor didn't waste a minute after that and sent us straight back to the hospital.
This time we went to St. Joseph's in town (and I have only great things to say about their staff and everyone we were in contact with). We were there by noon on Monday, got into our room, both girls went under the blue lights, and both girls were hooked up to IVs. It was pretty terrible to see... and their were plenty of tears on my end during our stay... even though we knew they were going to be okay.
After the first night, their bilirubin levels had dropped from 18 to 10. The doctor said that a drop that significant, that quickly was completely a result of them being so dehydrated. So, they were taken out of the lights and left on the IV for another day.
We went home on Wednesday with completely different babies...
KM... who still likes to sleep with her arms up by her head.

EK... who would sleep on her side all the time if we'd let her (her momma is a side sleeper also).
Our glowing room.
Holding my babies...
Look at those sweet little faces!!!! (KM & EK)
The little white things on their faces were to hold on the little eye blinds under the lights.
