The Great Evacuation of 2009

Yesterday a chemical plant in town caught on fire. Because of the chemicals, they ended up evacuating most of the city. They even opened up Reed Arena for people to take shelter in. KG thought they were making a bigger deal out of it, and even though we were most definitely in the evacuation zone, we didn't see or smell smoke, so we stayed home. Turns out, by 8 p.m. most people went back home anyway because they decreased the evacuation zone.

In the meantime, everything in town was closed. When we ventured out to get some dinner, we had to go to CS. I wish I would have taken some pics while we were out. The HEB parking lot was completely empty. The CVS (with the big "Open 24 Hours" sign over the door) was also closed. It was a little like a ghost town around some businesses. And then there was KG's buddies at China Wok Express... still there, still serving their delicious fried rice.
