Twenty-One

Today my little sister turns
21.

We have grown up into two entirely different gals, but I couldn't have asked for a better little sister (I've got a whole 7 years on her!). In honor of her 21 years, here's 21 of my favorite things/memories about Rebecca.

1. She called me "shish-shish" when she was little. We figured it was a cross between Shanna and sister. It was adorable.
2. She's the brave one... she does things that I could never do. Like ride horses... WITHOUT crying!!!

3. One summer we got locked out of the house in our PJ's and no shoes (our parents were at work, and we were picking the garden). We had to ride a bike to our neighbors house, but I made her get off and walk down the gravel driveway at noon, in TX, in the summer. And she just did it.

4. I used to bribe her to do extra/my chores by giving her kisses.

5. When we lived in Germany, she had a permanent scratch on her nose from falling when she was learning to walk.

6. One time we went on vacation, and my parents forgot to bring Becca's coat. She had to wear my Dad's sweatshirt the whole trip, which hit her at the ankles.

7. She melts cheese on a plate in the microwave and eats it for a snack.

8. On her 2nd birthday, my mom and I woke her up early in the morning with a cupcake and sang happy birthday to her. She was a sleepy head and soo cute.

9. I made her wear VERY high heels in my wedding. In return, she made me wear cowboy boots in hers.

10. During one of my high school volleyball games, one of my teammates was serving, missed the net, and hit me square in the back of the head. Needless to say, the coach took me out for a little bit. My mom and sister were at the game and I found out later that my lil sis was going crazy angry because the coach took me out over the girl who hit me. Mom had to spend sometime calming her down before I got any advil.

11. She is fiercely loyal to those she loves (see #10).

12. She doesn't like to shop. I love to shop. And I love the times my mom and I actually got her to go shopping with us. I love to dress her up... when she was little, it was easier.

13. One year, on her first day of school (I think her 1st day of high school), I got up early and fixed her hair. Then I attacked her with the bottle of hairspray. It's still a long-running joke we have.

14. When Becca was born, my dad asked me if I liked the name Melissa or Rebecca better. I picked Rebecca because I actually liked Melissa better. But it ended up being her perfect name. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to call her Becca-Boo.

15. When I turned 21, Becca and my mom came to see me and we had lunch together at Red Lobster. And then we had cake. I'll always remember her being there.

16. For her senior prom, she wore the dress I wore to my senior prom. I think it was just because she didn't want to go dress shopping, but I like to believe it was a sentimental thing. It was for me.

17. Matching outfits... still. Enough said.

18. My hubby, her bro-in-law, married her and Dustin. I love that.

19. When I used to drive her to school, she became the best steering-from-the-passenger-seat-driver.

20. She can be just plain silly with me.

21. She's a beautiful girl, and no matter how old she gets, she will always be my little sister.
