Easter 2009

I can never remember what we do on Easter. And every time I try to remember, I just prove KG's whole "I-have-the-worst-memory-ever" theory. And that's where the joy of this blog comes in... now I will be able to go back and read and remember these special holidays.

I had Good Friday off of work, so I spent the whole morning cleaning our house. It needed it... bad. And I hate coming home after a weekend away to a dirty house. So I got up and cleaned. Then we loaded up and headed to my parents house. We got there and I made a family favorite of enchiladas and chili rellenos. YUM! My sis and BIL where there also, and everyone got to meet our new little Molly.

***Side story about Molly... she road all the way to Gville on my lap. When we pulled up to open the gate, I said we should get her out so she could potty since I knew my fam would want to hold and play with her when we got up to the house. KG volunteered to walk with her up to the house from the gate. So, I got up to the house and my mom and sis came out to see Molly, and we turned to watch her trot alongside KG. She looked itty-bitty out in the field. Well, turns out, she had a thing for chasing cows. When the cows got close, she went after them and KG had to scramble to catch her and pick her up. He walked on a little ways, and then sat her down again. He kept walking, but sneaky little Molly turned around to go after the cows again. I yelled and he turned around in time to pick her up again. She's a brave little thing... thinks she is bigger than she is. And she kept that up all weekend... she met alot of dog family, and seemed to think she ruled.

So, Saturday morning we got up and I helped mom get some of the food together. My parents had invited both the Limmers and the Hodges' to the house for an Easter celebration on Saturday for lunch. My dad cooked 2 big briskets, which were fab and pretty much ALL gone. It was great to have so much of the family together. We hadn't really had the chance since Dad left right after the new house was finished. It was worth the wait though!

And just for my memory... we spent the day with Granny Hodges, great aunt Charlene, great uncle Doodles & great aunt LaJuana, aunt Janice, uncle Lewis & aunt Sherry, my cousins Tara & Jake, Granny & Grandpa Limmer, uncle Freddie, Joy & Mamma Jo, great uncle Clifford, Paul & Donna, Natalie & Miranda, Andy & Melissa and their girls, Madison, Jordan and Peyton, my mom and dad, and sister and bro-in-law.

Sunday we all got up and went to my parent's church. It was nice to be there... it is always a little emotional to me to go back there. My "church life" is so different now. But the memories are good... and I like for KG to see where I came from.

After church, we headed into town for lunch at the Baytown... Seafood Place... not quite sure of the name, but it's a new place in the Ville. It was pretty good, and a fun way to end our weekend at my parents.

And of course, once we got back to the house, it was picture time!

On Sunday after lunch, KG & I packed up and headed to Dallas to have Easter with his mom's side of the family. We all met at his aunt & uncle's house and had a fabulous meal. Everyone got to meet Molly, and she got to play with Mammas & Pop Pop's new puppies, Bailey & Charlie. Before dinner, they had an Easter egg hunt for the kiddos... there are only 4 little ones right now, so they had PLENTY of eggs to gather! It was great to see everyone, and my talented SIL took a great family photo.

After dinner, KG & I stayed the night in Dallas with his bro, Shane and his wife, Crystal. Molly got to meet their new dog, Sadie. They played hard, and Molly slept so long the next morning... I am SO grateful for that!!! It was fun to spend some time with Shane & Crystal, although I think Crystal and I crashed out pretty quick once we sat down for a little bit!

On "Easter Monday" (a holiday invented by my boss, DL), KG & I got up and headed back to CS. Somehow, it was the longest trip ever! It took us about 4 hours to get back... and normally only takes 3. That's life with a new little pup, I guess.

Overall, a FABULOUS Easter celebration...
with all the people we love
and the many gifts we have.
