Florida

This past weekend we headed to Florida for a wedding. We had been planning the trip for awhile and decided to leave a day early so we would have a beach day. Well, our plan was thwarted. It rained basically the whole time we were in Florida. We left home on Thursday and headed to Destin/Ft. Walton Beach, where we stayed Thursday and Friday nights. Unfortunately, my plan of laying on the beach all day Friday was ruined and instead we drove around town in the pouring rain. We had lunch at Fudpucker's (for sentimental reasons) and then we did some shopping. My mom and I dropped my dad and KG off at Bass Pro Shop and did a little more shopping on our own. During the afternoon, the rain looked to be letting up a bit, so we headed back to the hotel to get some pics by the beach.

Me & KG on the beach...
And my parents.

This is proof that my mom and I did actually get in the water...

But we were not as brave as KG. When we got back from town and the rain had let up, he put on his swim shorts and said he was going to play in the waves. Well, we got down to the beach and it started sprinkling again, and it was sooo windy. As we were standing there taking pictures, a lifeguard came by and said someone had been struck by lightening and another storm front was coming through in about 30 minutes, so they were closing the beach. He drove off and KG ran into the water!

Once he got out of the water, he started trying to trick this seagull into thinking we had food. Mr. Seagull was a little too close for my comfort...
After beach time, we headed over to The Crab Trap. We got a few appetizers and drinks and sat by the window to watch the storm blow in.

Saturday morning we got up and drove to Jacksonville for the wedding of my dear friend, Brianne. Brianne and I have known each other since we were about 9 years old. She lived right across the street from me when we were in Germany. She was my best, best friend. We were so much alike... and I have great memories from that time. When we both left Germany, our parents let us visit each other in the summers (she came to TX twice, and I went to FL twice). I hadn't seen her since before I started high school until she came to TX in 2005 for my wedding. And I haven't seen her since then until this weekend for her wedding! It was just so great to see her and her parents and grandparents! It was quite nostalgic, and it was fun to reminisce...

It was the sweetest wedding... intimate, fun and beautiful! And they looked so happy together! The wedding was actually outside on the lawn of the Winterbourne Inn, which was a perfect location. We were afraid it might rain, but the rain held off until the very end of the night. The ceremony was performed by Brianne's aunt, and she did a great job... so sweet. There was good food, good cake, fun dancing... an overall perfect wedding!

And a couple of pictures from the wedding... Bri and her new husband, Kevin (who seemed like the nicest guy).

And one of me and Bri.

This is about the only good pic I got of me and KG at the wedding...
my self-portrait technique.

Looks like fun! How disappointing that it rained, though. I think that's a great self portrait of you and Kyle. Mine and Marty's never turn out that good!
