Some background about Spencer Christmas...
A couple of years ago, all of KG's cousins decided to have a week long Christmas bonanza (most of them live in the same town). Basically, they plan Christmas activities for each day the week before Christmas. I think one year there was a kick-ball game (it was cold and rainy and I haven't seen this one back on the schedule). There is usually some caroling and cookie making and a girls lunch... many fun things. We usually aren't there for the whole week, but we still get in on some of the fun.

SO...

Today was cookie decorating day at Kristi & Sean's. Really only the older girls and a couple of KG's cousins and I decorated cookies. All the little ones just played and played. Cuties.

Grandmother had all 4 of her grandbabies together...

It was cold outside, but all the kids were out playing and EK wanted to be in on the fun. I went outside and she had found her spot in Aunt Debi's lap. And she sat and watched the other kids for a LONG time. I was shocked... Kate doesn't stay still for long usually.
Of course, she had plenty to entertain her...

Christmas... just the 4 of us

Today after the girls woke up from their afternoon nap, we had our little family Christmas. Santa had a few things for the girls he wanted them to have before we left for our extended family Christmas', and I brought out some of the birthday gifts we hadn't opened yet as well!

Their main gift was a princess castle tent. They were a little unsure at first, but warmed up pretty quickly. When they first walked out of their room, EK just kept pointing at it. Silly girl.

KG helped Santa out when he found these little wands with Disney princesses on them. They have a little button and the wand lights up and plays a little tune when you push it... which both girls can do and really like to do. The wands were a hit!

The girls also got a plastic cow and pig that make the animal sound when you push their buttons. We already have a lion and a tiger, and these were a huge hit... especially the cow since just this weekend the girls started saying "moo."

They also got some pajamas and two movies (Dumbo and Beauty & the Beast).

After presents, KG had made us a delicious dinner... a recipe he found my one of my Southern Living magazines (a cornbread chicken dressing). The girls were only semi impressed... they were just ready to get back down and play!

It was a fun evening to celebrate with our little girls. I can't wait for many, many more Christmases to come with my little family!

Maybe one of the best parts of the day... since Santa delivered the girls gifts early this year, he didn't have time to put them together, so KG had to help him out this year. I thoroughly enjoyed this... Molly wasn't so sure.

We had a great hang-out-with-friends-before-Christmas-crazy weekend! This weekend was the birthday of our great friend Andrew, so we headed to Houston with the Hawkins for some grown up fun on Saturday. We had lunch, Tami and I got our nails done, we hung out at Little Woodrow's in Rice Village for awhile. Some of our other friends, Rob & Lea, live in Houston and also came to play. Later we had dinner at Azuma... sushi for Andrew... and it was amazing. We stayed at Rob & Lea's for the night and headed back home the next morning.

While we were gone, the girls where playing with YaYa & Pappy at our house! I know they always have a great time, and when we got home, there was some backyard playtime...

Today we dressed up and went to the mall to meet Santa! Aunt Sherry and cousin Tara came with me to help keep babies under control. We got there while Santa was on his break, so EK and Aunt Sherry did a little window shopping all around the mall. KM stayed a little closer and just tried to show off as all the people walked by. A few snacks and some running around kept the girls occupied.

Christmas with the Cow

Tonight we went to Chick-fil-a for Christmas with the Cow. I heard about it through my twin mom club... we made reservations and the Cow is dressed like Santa. There is table service, and they have a hot chocolate bar and cookies for the kids to decorate. They also had a little group playing a guitar and singing Christmas songs. The girls were totally enamored by the singing! The cows were a different story...

When we first arrived, the girls were both really interested in the Santa cows. There were little smiles, and they would even touch the cows. But once we put them on the cow's lap, KM bust into tears. EK wasn't very happy about it either, but she didn't melt down immediately like KM did.

We had dinner, and the girls got to play in the playground area for a little bit. I frosted a cookie, and the girls got a little bite. EK was definitely interested in having more!!!

Tonight KM decided to give everyone a little surprise in the bath tub.

Normally bath time goes like this... the girls finish dinner and I run the bath and get everything ready. We strip them down in the kitchen and take them right to the tub. After I soap and clean them, they get to play in the bath while daddy supervises and I clean up dinner.

Tonight I heard KG yelling...

Surprise.

There was an immediate evacuation.

Dallas

My sweet friend Mo is having a baby... her first. A boy! I'm so excited, but I missed her baby shower, so I wanted to do something special.

The girls and I left Gville on Friday morning and headed to Dallas to stay the weekend at Mo's house.

We got there around lunch on Friday, and one of my other Dallas friends, Keisha came up to Mo's house. We had a late lunch at Chili's and then we just hung out with babies all afternoon and evening, and had a mini baby shower for Mo during the girls nap time. (As a side note, I had so much fun baby shopping for Mo. It seems much easier now that I've actually had babies, so I just got a big bunch of all the things I couldn't have lived with out. I thought it turned out kinda fun.)

The girls loved Mo's two dogs, and they were so good with the girls. They will be awesome with little Quinn!

It had been awhile since Keish & Mo had seen the girls, and they were amazed at their walking around.

Saturday Mo and I went shopping with the girls, and the girls had their first meal at the Dallas mi co. And they did so great at lunch! KM managed to convince Mo to share a little brisket from her quesadilla.

Keish came over that afternoon and later Aunt Crystal came and played, too. There was a lot of playing and eating and girl talk.

It was really fun having everyone around and helping and watching the girls. Poor Quinn's room got broken in for sure already by the girls. They played with all of his toys and books. Brad (Mo's hubby) had bought these little plastic animals that have a button and make the animal sound from the 1 spot at Target. Mo made fun of him when he bought them and said no kid would play with those. Let's just say KM never put them down that weekend, and we now have 4 at our house! HA.

One of the funniest things... Keish would read this ladybug book to the girls, but she sang it instead and the girls loved it and would dance around while she sang. Adorable. I loved seeing the girls love it, but there is just something about my friends loving my babies that makes me so happy inside.

Both nights after the girls went to bed, the big girls would stay up too late and chat and eat and drink. I loved that Crystal came by to hang out for a little while, too. I couldn't have had a better weekend!!!!

Abilene

Today we spent the day in Abilene. We got up early and drove up, and drove back late that night. We stopped both times in Gville with YaYa & Pappy though. The reason for our trip is that Becca graduated from nursing school, and moved back to Gville all in one day!!

We got to town and went straight to Becca's apartment to pack up and fill the trailer to move her back home.

KM thinks packing is fun...

Especially when you get to play with plastic...
And of course packing is fun when YaYa is playing with you just as much as she is packing...

We got chicken tenders for lunch and YaYa & I fed the girls standing in the kitchen. They would get a bite, run around, and come back for more... especially when YaYa introduced them to cream gravy...

The girls started getting a little fussy in the afternoon, and we knew they needed some form of a nap. So we got bottles and put them in the car. KG and I drove around town checking out all of his old "places," including ACU's campus. The girls took a short nap, and when they woke up, we stopped and walked around campus. Unfortunately, I left my camera at the apartment, so we were on iPhone pics only.

We went to the bookstore to look for ACU gear for the girls... KG got a shirt and I got my very first ACU shirt, and the girls convinced their daddy to buy them purple & white pom poms... you can imagine how hard of a sell that was.

And then we climbed these steps... the girls LOVED them, and made me a nervous wreck.
This was a special, precious moment... KG wanted to take the girls, and get a pic of them with their great, great grandparents. Katharine Bell is where little EK's middle name originated. The name Katharine was passed down to KG's mom and then our little girl. A sweet moment for the daddy and his girls. :)

We walked out front and let the girls run free. They had been so good all day, and we just let them go. Plus there were birds everywhere, and they took off after them.
KG finally had to go out after them and bring them back because it was time for us to go...

After our playtime on campus, we met YaYa & Pappy at Taco Bueno for some quesadillas for the girls before the graduation.

During graduation, which was at a church, KG and the girls hung out in the nursery and played with all the fun toys. Mom, Dad and I got to sit peacefully through the service...

I'm so glad we made the trip... not just to see Becca's graduation (which I'm super proud of her for), but also so we could take the girls to ACU and see things that are special to their daddy. And that concludes our LONG, but fun day in Abilene!!!

Tonight I had a Christmas party with my twin mom club. We have dinner out and an ornament exchange.

Owls are big in our house these days... I finally got the girls to say "whoo whoo" for an owl. KM wrinkles up her little nose and it is quite entertaining. So, when I saw this ornament, I had to have it!

I was so excited to bring it home. We hung it on the tree down low (our tree is on the other side of the baby gate), so the girls can look at it every night when we turn on the tree lights. Perfect.

My friend Tami and I planned a day of shopping with no kids or husbands. I'm not sure I got any actual Christmas shopping done, but it was still a wonderful day! We headed to Austin and had our special lunch at Maggiano's...
They have an unbelievable Caprese... yum.
It was such a fun day. And since shopping days are few and far between these days, I totally cherish them! And it is even better when you spend it with your BFF. :)

This fall I started going to a ladies Bible study at our church on Wednesday mornings. The girls go with me and they get to play in the nursery. They do so good, and I think it is really good for them.

We also started taking them to cradle roll on Sunday mornings while KG and I go to class. The teachers always tell me that they do really well in class.

Our church also has a big long hall, so KG let the girls run around before church one day... and run they did. Made me a little nervous as they weaved in and out of people, but I think they loved it.

Christmas Decorating...

If you know me at all, you know that I'm not the biggest fan of Christmas decorating. In fact, in the past it was commonplace for there to be no tree in our house. But now we have sweet little girls that need to have Christmas decorations. So I'm working on it.

And we didn't waste any time. As soon as Thanksgiving was over, we went to decorating. It is a lot more fun with two little helpers. :)

The most exciting part for me... I finally have a complete nativity set and a place to set it up. Perfect. Nativity sets have a special place in my heart because it is something that I remember setting up and playing with when I was little. I can't wait to set it up with my girls next year and talk about all the characters!

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving this year was a first for me. The Aggies were playing tu in College Station (word on the street is this may be the last time for a long time since we are moving to the SEC), so KG and I really wanted to go. We bribed my parents to come down to stay with the girls and in return I hosted Thanksgiving at my house.

It ended up being really fab. We had my family and our friends the Hawkins fam over also. Tami made the turkey though, and it was so pretty (and also yummy)!

This was the first big meal I've ever had and served on my china, so that was really fun for me. :) And Tami had some really horrible Thanksgiving napkins she found at her house, so just to give her a hard time, I put those out on the table as well. Perfect.
These candles were one of my first pinterest projects... and I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out!
We even had to set up the card table...

That night, KG and I went to the game. It was awesome. The pre-game and beginning of the game were amazing. I'm not sure there are many things more exciting than college football! Unfortunately, by the second half it was FREEZING cold and we were losing, so KG and I headed home and watched the end in our warm home.

And Grandmother left her green tomatoes (on accident, I think), but we cut them up and made some "oven-fried" green tomatoes. (KG doesn't believe that "oven-fried" is a term and thinks I made it up... he now makes fun every time I say it. Whateva.

Grandmother spent several days with us this past weekend, and it was great. My BFF, Drew, was in town and I got to spend a lot of time hanging out with them... normally, I wouldn't have, but Grandmother was here to save the day!

Aggie Tailgate #2

Have to say, I'm loving not working on gamedays and being able to tailgate like a real Aggie with all my Aggie friends!!

So, we did it again for the game vs Kansas (we won 61-7). Another 11am kick-off, so it meant we were up and out there early. Tami and I gathered some breakfast goodies (croissants, donuts, kolaches, little sausages wrapped in bacon, and mimosa & bloody mary mix), and we all went out. This was a much smaller scale than our big tailgate back in October, but we had a special guest...

The girls love their swing set.

At any given point when they are outside, you can watch them try and climb up the slide. They are both pretty good at it, until they both get on there (we haven't quite mastered taking turns). It usually requires some form of refereeing from KG or myself.

This girl, she's a pro at slide climbing... she did it for the first time long before I thought we would even have to think about worrying about that!!

This little girl cracks me up. She is a full on walker, but what I really want to talk about is her hairstyle. The headband she is wearing is an old extra one that started to tear, so I let them play with it. Now randomly, this little girl will find it and bring it to me to put on her head. And then she wears it around for however long until she remembers it is there. Sometimes she actually does try to put it on herself, but we have a ways to go before that...

This little girl looks like her daddy. And I think she acts like him, too. But he says she is totally ruled by her emotions and apparently, he thinks I'm like that, too. Either way, she can be a little emotional... she goes from happy to tears in the blink of an eye. Everything affects her. But man she has the deepest belly giggle and I can't help but giggle when I hear it!

So I did the best I could to bundle them up, and as crazy as they look, they were so stinkin cute!!!

And besides that, they were happy. Which really, that's all that matters at 530 in the evening.

After all of our Halloween fun at church, we loaded up and headed to Grandmother's & Grandaddy's for a couple of days. KG needed to be there for some work stuff, so we went along to play.

And play we did... with cousins!!

And yes, KM climbed on that table herself. She is QUITE the climber these days.

After Tate left to take his nap, and we took ours, we played outside on Grandmother's porch...

KM spent most of her time lining up these bottles of bubbles that Grandmother had. Everytime KM would knock one over, she would pick it up and line it back up with the others. Kept her busy for a long time. It required serious concentration. (Grandmother also blew bubbles for the girls, and they were pretty excited about that... their first time for bubbles!)

Now, little EK kept herself busy climbing up and down these two steps. Over and over. Up and down. Well, that and posing sweetly for my pictures...

And KM managed to get Grandmother to do a little dancing. This is something that KM and I do at home alot... she loves it.

That evening Caden & Tate came over for dinner (along with Adam & Kristen) and Grandmommy & PawPaw, and then all of the cousins showed up in their costumes! I was a semi-lazy mom and the girls did NOT put on full costume that night. We did get a huge group picture... so it's not a good one, but they are all there!!!

I've never been a big Halloween person... probably because my mother never was. But I gave in and dressed the girls up this year. And I'll do it again next year... because really, they are just so stinkin cute!

They were little black kitty cats this year. They just wore little tutu's and leggings and I made their rhinestone shirts (because what costume is complete without rhinestones??).

We actually celebrated on the 30th and went to Trunk or Treat at the church. It was my first Trunk or Treat, so the girls and I shared that experience. They did really good... just rode around in their wagon and took in the sights.

We put the girls to bed tonight, and as I walked back to go in our bedroom, I saw this...
I just laughed to myself. And felt so thankful. It made me think over the past year and how far I've come... as a wife, as a mother. Amazing. There were so many days when I didn't think I would make it, and I'm sure there will be plenty more in the future, but because He is watching over me... all things are possible.

Funny how a little stroller provokes much thought...

After our photo shoot (one year pics and some family shots), we took the girls to CiCi's Pizza. KG loves this place. And at some point in our marriage, he converted me. I'm not sure if it was him or my love of their buffalo chicken pizza, but either way.

I'm happy to say, the girls are fans!

six year weekend getaway

So, last year, we didn't really get to celebrate our five year anniversary in a big way. Which I had planned on, but then I had just had babies, so plans changed.

This year (#6), KG and I decided to have a weekend away in Dallas. Honestly, I was mainly excited about staying in a hotel and sleeping as much as I wanted to! But we did take full advantage of being in Dallas and ate alot.

We dropped the girls at YaYa & Pappy's house on Friday, and headed to Dallas. It was late when we got there, so we went right to dinner at Snuffer's (I mean... fried pickles. Really.). And after dinner, we went right to the hotel to bed. And it was wonderful. There is just something about going to bed and knowing that no babies are going to wake you up in the middle of the night or early in the morning.

We stayed downtown at the Hyatt. Have to say, the rooms aren't that great (especially considering our last hotel stay was at Aria in Vegas..), but Reunion Tower has a special meaning for us... it is were we got engaged back in 2005. And I've always wanted to get pictures of the tower for our room at home... 6 years later, I finally did!

Saturday was actually our anniversary. We slept in and then headed to Paradise Bakery for a chocolate croissant... which they didn't have. After breakfast I gave KG his gift. Here's the story... I really wanted an iPad. And I had been dropping hints for months. And then I started telling KG how AWESOME his gift was and how I had had it since JUNE (both of which were true). So, Saturday morning, I got my iPad. And KG...
He got an awesome stein. And all of the hype that he didn't believe (he kept saying I was just trying to get an iPad) was true. :)

Still, I got an iPad, and we headed to the Apple store for some accessories! :) We stopped by the Container Store, which I'm certain was exactly what KG wanted to do. ha.

We had lunch at in and out burger... and I'm not sure it was all that I dreamed it would be. But it was decent. The place was PACKED though.

The Aggies played that afternoon, so we went to watch the game at Christies on McKinney. We had a good time just sitting and enjoying the game. We also had the BEST jalapeno poppers. They had a beer that we both love...

After the game we went to this crazy little BYOB place called Rocco's Pizza & Pasta. Nothing crazy, but decent. And KG had found this bar he wanted to go to because of the vast beer selection, so after dinner, we went...

On our way back to the hotel, we stopped for some tower night pictures, and then we crashed.

Sunday was another sleep in day, and then KG got me what looked to be a delicious croissant from the hotel... not impressive though.

Before we headed home, we went to the Sixth Floor Museum. I've been several times when I was younger on field trips, but I've always wanted to go again. It was interesting... more so now that I'm older I think.

We had lunch at Uncle Julio's and then headed back to pick up our girls, which included a sickly little EK.

It is amazing what can happen in six years... here's to another six with my love!

This picture from today made me think of something I wanted to write down...

We used paci's with the girls when they were tiny little. Eventually, they just quit. KM wouldn't take it at all and EK was really hesitant. So KG and I just gave up. I honestly thing we just lucked out on that one, and I'm glad I don't have to worry about taking them away!

However, there is one paci that used to be EK's (the girls each had a different paci because they wouldn't use the same shaped ones) floating around the house and toys. Occasionally one or both of the girls will find it and chew on it...

Pumpkin Patch

Karie & Addie came to town for the day, and we decided to make it an event!

First, the girls got to open their birthday presents (sweater dresses, tights, puffs and mini cabbage patch doll each).

After that, we went to lunch at Mi Cocina (one of the few that's left), and this was the first time the girls actually ate food there! They had a cheese quesadilla and did pretty good.

After lunch, we loaded back into the car and headed to the pumpkin patch where all the fun began...

Later in the evening, we went front for a wagon ride. The girls got two boxes in the mail that day with birthday presents and we opened them right there outside.

The first box was from Aunt Marla... and it contained two Disney princess dolls. Brilliant gift, Aunt Marla... these are two very happy little girls!

The other gift was from my sweet friends Drew & Blake... they sent the cutest dresses and they came with these adorable hats!!

What a day!!! We all are going to get a great night's sleep!!!

Since I became a full time stay at home mom, I’ve been dying to tailgate the way normal people do (aka... people who go to football games for fun, not work).

So we picked a game (vs Baylor), and invited all of our lovely Aggie friends to come tailgate. The game ended up being at 1130am, which meant for an early tailgating start, but allowed for mimosas!

KG got our spot secured the night before, and Tami and I had breakfast treats for everyone and then after the game we had more food.

I did a TERRIBLE job at getting pictures of everyone who came, however, I did get a picture of Rob & future Mrs. Rob, Lea...

The game was a really fun game. Of course it is always more fun when we win... but those awesome Aggie students held up this fab banner during the game...It definitely didn't stay up long, but it was funny nonetheless. (Word is, baylor was threatening to sue A&M and the SEC for us leaving... I'm simplifying, but you get the picture.)

After the game, Tami brought out the brisket she warmed up at home and Andrew (who just had knee surgery). It was so close after the game, that she couldn't get IN the parking lot, so she drove over the sidewalk at a bus stop. Awesome.

And my serious Aggie friend... JJ. Its just not an Aggie game without JJ there.

I had a perfect tailgating weekend. But it has been a busy event planning couple of weeks, so I'm looking forward to some relaxing.

I really can't believe we all made it through this year. This year has been the hardest of my life, by far! I had no idea what I was in store for, and I was naive at how much my life would change. I worry everyday if I am doing the right thing for you both... are you eating enough? Are you eating the right things? Are you sleeping enough? Am I teaching you anything? Do we read enough? The questions go on and on. Most days I'm not sure I'm any better than the day you were born.

I want you to know how much I love you both. And I always will. I am happy you are mine. I can't wait to see you grow up even more. And I can't wait for the day when we can all be the best of friends.

Every month I am amazed at how much you both change. You are the prettiest babies I've ever seen. And you grow so much. And you learn so much. It is awesome.

The girls went down for a nap pretty quickly at the end of the party. Then those amazing grandmothers helped me clean up! By the time the girls woke up, we had everything pretty much clean!

And it was play time…

The Party.

The actual party was a party. I don’t think it could have turned out any better. I loved every minute of it, and the girls did amazing with so many people around. They are so blessed to have so many people who love them!

We started with the most important thing… FOOD! KG started us off with a few words (he said perfectly how thankful we are to everyone who helped us in the beginning and continues to help us, and how thankful we are for our two sweet girls… things I wanted to say, but couldn't manage to say that day) and prayer. We had a great meal. I love big family dinners, and this was just that.

These girls may not know it yet, but they have the best Grandmother and best YaYa. KG and I would not have made it without our mothers those first months. They were such a gift to us and continue to be every day. I'm so happy our girls have such special grandmothers in their lives.

So, it was a little rainy on party day, so instead of using our great backyard, we had to set up tables in the garage... turned out okay if you can ignore the giant treadmill in the back.

After lunch, we went straight to the cupcakes. I went backwards for this, and we sang happy birthday to EK first and then to KM.

In total KM fashion, she dug right in. KM is never really afraid to try a new food! She ate some and made a mess. She did exactly what you want a one-year old to do when you give them a cupcake on their birthday! And she had to get some serious clean-up afterwards from YaYa.

EK did exactly what she does with food. She was less than impressed with her cupcake… she pushed it around and smashed it a little. I’m not sure if she really even tasted it, and she honestly wasn't very fond of even touching it after a few minutes!

We finished up with presents… Of course there were plenty of fun toys, and the girls got so many new books! And cute, cute clothes! Not to mention the awesome wagon from YaYa and Pappy! It was just what mommy wanted!!! And honestly, the girls loved it…

The one sad thing about having your own kiddos... you get so much less time for spoiling nieces and nephews (at least at these young ages). So when I see Aunt Kristen with a little girl in her arms, I always try to get a picture!

The party was owl themed. I’ve sort of become addicted to owls lately, and this may have pushed me over the edge!

This was one of my favorite parts of the party decor. I know many times twins are seen as "one"... it just happens when you have two babies at the same time. And it doesn't help that mine are both girls. Since most people who were going to be at the party don't get to spend a ton of time with the girls, I wanted to have something to showcase who each girl is. So, I covered our office doors and made a list on each door for each girl with things about her that are unique to only her. I was pretty happy with the way it turned out!!

The Pre-Party

We went all out for the girls' 1st birthday party. I wanted to do it because this day means a lot to me. When the girls were born, we had so many family and friends visit, which was wonderful, but it was all a blur for me. This was a chance to have everyone back at our house, and for me to enjoy them, and enjoy our sweet girls. And I approached this party like it may be the only first birthday I get to plan.

Unfortunately, little EK was sick all week, and wanted to spend most of her time being held. YaYa came down early on Friday morning to help me out… mainly by holding the little sickly one. Luckily, she was better by the party… enough at least to enjoy it. And KM waited until after the party to get sick, too.

Saturday Grandmother, Grandaddy, Aunt Crystal and Uncle Shane all came into town. We spent the day getting ready for the party (Aunt Crystal helped a lot), and that night we all went to dinner at Ninfa’s.

Sunday morning Uncle Jesse came by early to drop off presents for the girls. Aunt Judy was sick, so they weren’t going to be able to come to the party. This was the first present for the girls to open, and they did a great job! I was totally impressed. And they loved the new toys!!!

Several months ago, Grandmother taught the girls how to "smell" the flower pictures in their books. Which they do all the time. But I bought real flowers for their party, and EK took a minute to smell them!
Wouldn't be a party without a minor setback... while we were getting furniture arranged, I managed to knock a glass candle holder off the mantle and it of course shattered on the tile floor. KG and Pappy took the girls to play on the porch while YaYa and I swept and vacuumed. Nothing like adding another task to the list for the day!

It's late and I'm planning a birthday party and I have a sick kid (EK)... list form...

1. KM is a walking machine. Today we watched her walk more than every before... and consecutively.

2. The girls got some shoes... little black glitter ones and shiny brown ones. I'm super excited, and so were they. We put the brown ones on EK (they have a soft sole) and she stood, holding onto the couch, and tapping out her feet. It was so funny. I wish we would have videoed it, but KG and I couldn't move... we were just watching her and laughing. It was the funniest part of my day. During all of the tapping, she lost one shoe... she sat down and got it and tried to put it on the foot that still had a shoe. Obviously annoyed, she took the shoe and took off crawling (her on-a-mission crawl that involves her head down and loud slapping noises with her hands). She crawled across the room to me, sat up and held the shoe up to me. I'm assuming she wanted it back on. Silly, silly girl.

3. Might I add that we were supposed to have 1 year pics today, but little EK had a rough night and was pretty fussy all day. She's been running fever, and I think has some type of stomach bug. We'll see how tomorrow goes before seeing the doctor, but pictures just didn't seem to be in the plans.

4. The happiest I saw her all day was when she had her new shoes on (obviously my daughter).

5. KM is the happiest girl I know. She's been so funny lately and plays so good. And walks... growing up so much.

This weekend we headed up to Aledo for a family picnic... but not our family, one of KG's college friends' family picnic. It really was a big backyard party... yummy catered Mexican food, a bounce house and pony rides for the kids, a live band... it was awesome. And we had a great time. Unfortunately, the girls were totally off schedule and melted down pretty early, so we weren't there very long at all. But we did manage to get a few pictures...

I have a little side story first... I've been working with the girls on saying "neigh" for a horse. I've heard EK a few times, but not sure it really had stuck. On this trip we actually stayed the night with another of KG's friends (Jason) who had a little girl (Kerrington) the same age as the girls. Kerrington has a little toy rocking horse, which upon seeing, EK said "neigh." I was pumped and figured she finally got it. And then we saw the ponies... and she said "neigh". I'm not sure I could have been more proud. Then we went back to Jason's and their big yellow lab came in the house... EK pointed and said "neigh." Oh well.

antiquing

So, twice a year there is a big antique fair in Round Top and the surrounding little communities. Usually some of KG's family comes down and does some shopping for a week, and we go out and spend a day... usually just an evening. It has been a while since they have made the trip, but they did this fall! So, we loaded up the girls and went to spend the whole day!

We got there just in time for lunch, and then we were off antiquing. We made several stops and I managed to find two S's for my S collection. We ended the day in Round Top, and fed the girls dinner at a table in the square. We all had dinner together, and the girls were DONE by that time, so we loaded up and headed home!

We had a great time and the girls were terrific! And they got some quality time with PaPa & Grandmommy, Uncle Mike & Aunt Debi.

Little EK is getting a little big for her britches if she thinks she's driving! (Actually, we got in the car to give the girls a bottle and let the a/c blow and cool them down a little. I'm certain one day her daddy won't let her behind the wheel so easily.)

Oh what a night. I'm not even sure what exactly this "event" was, but I got dressed up and went to Warrenton with Tami, Ashlynn and Aleia. When I say "dressed up", I mean kinda crazy... lots of petticoats, jewelry and bright colors. The little girls didn't last long, but we did get some fun pictures. And I found the cutest things for my girls (who stayed home with their daddy)... you'll see what in upcoming pictures. :)

Today, KM pushed a diaper box up to the side table box and crawled up on it. EK came over, put her hand on KM and pushed her off. Luckily, KG and I were watching and he was close enough to reach down and grab her before her head hit the ground!

Earlier this morning, KM wasn't so lucky. She was sitting in the recliner, reading a book while I changed EK's diaper. Next thing I know, she was laying on the floor on her back. I think she went over the arm... but she was okay after some snuggling.

It had been awhile since Aunt Sherry had seen the girls, so she came over to play this afternoon.

We had a great time... she brought the girls a toy cell phone (which they have fought over since), and they love it.

KM got to show off her walking skills (still at 3 steps). And EK her standing.

EK also showed Aunt Sherry how she smells the flowers in her books (Grandmother taught her that, and KM will do it, too), and told her how the horse says "neigh" (we have been working on that and I wasn't sure if she would perform, but she did!!). And of course she said "uh-oh" multiple times.

I was also amazed again at how much they understand. We were playing in the floor and I told EK she should go push her stroller... and off she crawled over to it, and stood up and played with it. I was shocked.

Then a little bit later she had a block and this cup, and I told her to put the block in the cup and she did!! Totally shocked. So, I'm starting to believe that she knows what I'm saying to her... so fun!

The girls were in such good moods and played so good. And we were ALL glad for a visitor!!

We were at HEB one day, and they had these sweet little chairs. KG and I sat EK in one at the store, and OH she cried when we took her out of it. Her daddy thought she needed one.

So, the next time I was at HEB, I got the chairs.

And they do love them. Totally worth every penny.

EK is quite the little uh-oher. She says it all the time. And it is quite adorable.

This morning I went in to get the girls up, and I picked up KM. Then I heard Molly scratching on our bedroom door where KG was still sleeping, so I walked out of the nursery with KM to get Molly. When I came back, EK was sitting in her bed playing, but as soon as she saw me, she stood up, pointed to the ground and said "uh-oh." She had dropped her snuggle on the floor while I was out, and waited until I came back to tell me.

I was so impressed. They understand waaayyyyyyyy more than you think.

My friend Tami found these black tutu's for the girls Halloween costumes, so we had to try them on and see what we thought...

*Side Story... about the ball that is in the picture with her... We have another one like it that is smaller and purple. Then I saw this one on one of our trips to Target, so I got it thinking now they would both have one to play with (because they love the original one). HA. Not the case. Now they fight over both of them. A lot. Awesome.

KM was in much more of a modeling mood today...

Even Daddy had to come out of the office to check out the tutu modeling...

big week in standing/walking department

Oh these babies!

I wanted to record a few things about this week. There were leaps and bounds in standing and walking. I feel like both girls get better every day, but this week was amazing.

EK pulls up all the time. And I even got her on video taking her first steps. She hasn't done it again though. But this week, she started standing up on her own. And she's pretty good at it. And that all happened this week.

KM has been standing up on her own, but this week she really made some progress on standing longer and steadier and even taking steps!! She's up to three steps in a row pretty consistently.

It won't be long I'm sure before I have two little walkers, and this was a huge week!!!

Uncle Drew moved far away and we are all sad because of it.

For his birthday, we wanted to take some special pictures for him.

Well, maybe just I wanted to take pictures... because these babies were NOT cooperating...

So, we took a break. EK did a little ice chest pushing to work out some frustrations...

And we were ready to try again!!!

After a crazy, busy, late night Saturday, we were all happy to spend the day in our jammies.

KM managed to steal away the stroller for some play time...

And EK... man, she's a standing machine now!!!

Time for another gameday in Aggieland! I think I'm finally starting to enjoy the not working on gameday thing. It is strange in some ways, but in other ways I don't even realize that it is different. Until gameday!

KG and I had planned for YaYa & Pappy to be here for the day so we could go to the game. We played OSU, and well, we just ran out of time (L 29-30).

But still we had a fun day!!!

Tami & I... she and Andrew came and tailgated with us, and then we all met after the game for dinner at BJ's. Good times.

It was a beautiful day at Kyle Field (minus the loss), and I was really happy for our seats under the overhang (translation... in the shade!).

That morning before the game, EK showed YaYa how much fun her new tunnel was...

YaYa & Pappy took the girls to lunch at Cotton Patch, and even let them have their own plates...

That afternoon and evening they spent some time with my uncle Jesse, aunt Judy and cousin Josh. Apparently they had some fun play time...

And aunt Judy got some sweet attention and a lap full of babies!

Another fun weekend with Aggie football and YaYa & Pappy!!!!!
